6. Delve into Local History.

Walk through the doors of Rock Springs Historical Museum, and enter a passageway back in time. The castle-like sandstone building was built in 1894 and once served as Rock Springs' City Hall. Visit the Community Fine Arts Center and see original western American paintings, prints, works on paper and photographs. Much of the collection, once called “one of the best collections of contemporary art in the Rockies" (Time, Nov. 24, 1952), is permanently on display. In addition to the permanent collection, the Community Fine Arts Center features a changing exhibition schedule of local, regional and national painters, sculptors, printers, photographers and craft artists.
