Eat your way through Sweetwater County, the perfect mix of gourmet and casual with a dash of fun!
Day 1 – Rock Springs
8:00 a.m.
It’s the perfect time for a dang good donut in Rock Springs! Cowboy Donuts is a local favorite and has even been featured on The Food Network. Try a seasonal specialty like watermelon, red velvet or pumpkin spice!
9:00 a.m.
Venture to Downtown Rock Springs, the heart of an old coal-mining town.
9:15 a.m.
Downtown Rock Springs is home to the Rock Springs Historical Museum, vibrant murals, locally owned shops, a spa and a bike store with a coffee shop inside! Take a break at the Java Peddler then head out for shopping and much more.
12:30 p.m.
Boschetto’s European Market is the place to go for kronskis that have been made locally for generations. Home of World Famous Kronski's Sausage, brick-stone pizza and Italian sandwiches! Boschetto's has been family-owned and operated since the early 1900’s.
1:30 p.m.
Depart for Farson, Wyoming and the nearby historic pioneer trails. While traveling on Highway 191, you’re likely to see wild horses, Pronghorn antelope, rabbits, deer and loads of other animals.
4:00 p.m.
After checking out the historic pioneer trails, cool off at the Farson Mercantile — home of the BIG CONE!
4:30 p.m.
Head back to Rock Springs and watch for wild horses and other wildlife on your way to town.
5:30 p.m.
Indulge in dinner at Eve's for seasonal dishes from trout to porkchops and more!
Day 2 – Green River
7:30 a.m.
Get Real Coffee in Green River not only has delicious coffee but they also make their pastries in house and have the best baked oatmeal around! Start your day with hot coffee and a filling meal!
9:00 a.m.
Visit Expedition Island and take an enjoyable stroll on the paved path that encircles the island. Easy parking access to the river can be gained next door at the Splash Park. The island is comfortably shaded and features picnic tables, restrooms and access to the Green Belt Nature Walk.
12:00 p.m.
Head over to the Mi Casita or lunch, featuring local favorites like green chile smothered burrito, steak fajitas and incredible beans and rice.
1:30 p.m.
Discover the rich cultural heritage of southwestern Wyoming at the Sweetwater County Historical Museum. Established in 1967 to preserve and present the history of Sweetwater County, the museum is housed in a 1931 post office building. The building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, displays a treasure trove of bygone days so visitors can experience what life was like for early settlers and Native Americans. The collection focuses on Native American and fur trade history, mining, transportation, communication, ethnic diversity, and civic and economic development.
4:00 p.m.
Stay cool at the Green River Recreation Center. This facility includes an Olympic-sized pool for competitive and recreational swimming.
6:00 p.m.
Dinner at the Hitching Post Restaurant and Saloon in Green River. This remodeled building is home to friendly staff and great food all in the center of Green River.
